LAWRENCE KATZ was born in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated Brooklyn College in 1962 with a major in Political Science and went on to Brooklyn Law School from which he received a J.D. in June 1965. He graduated with honors, served on the staff of the Brooklyn Law Review and had several articles published. Mr. Katz was then employed at and eventually became a partner in the firm that came to be known as Marcus & Katz devoting his career to litigation, both commercial and personal injury. On the death of his partner in 1994, he continued the practice, but changed its emphasis, specializing in personal injury and construction law matters. In January 2001, he joined forces with his son-in-law, Matthew Kreinces, forming the present firm, which deals in personal injury, medical malpractice, construction law and real estate. Mr. Katz is a veteran of hundreds of trials, has handled appeals and argued several before the New York State Court of Appeals, the state’s highest court. Mr. Katz is on the Board of Trustees of the Suffolk Y Jewish Community Center and has served as its President. He is the Chairman of its Legal Committee and heads its community theatre. He has traveled the world extensively with his wife of 40+ years and three daughters. He has a passion for theatre and people. He feels that this translates into the ability to represent his clients successfully and to foster the resolution of their cases. In addition to the New York Court, Mr. Katz is admitted in Florida and to the United States Supreme Court, as well as many federal courts.
